Flexible Tuition

Families with incomes ranging from $13,000 to $250,000+ are enrolled at St. Michael’s through our Flexible Tuition.  Other contributing factors include a family’s number of dependents and number of children in tuition charging schools.   Each family situation is unique.

This is a big misconception! Families can be surprised to learn that they may qualify for some amount of Flexible Tuition. Completing a Clarity application begins the process of learning what’s possible.  Our Director of Enrollment works with each family to understand their unique financial circumstance and is always available to discuss.

The Flexible Tuition Committee makes a determination using Clarity’s methodology, which considers each family’s resources and individual circumstances. Clarity is the third party platform that St. Michael’s partners with for financial analysis in the Flexible Tuition application process.

Yes.  Only members of the flexible tuition committee review applications for flexible tuition and the information is not shared beyond this small group.

For returning families, you’ll know your flexible tuition amount when you receive re-enrollment contracts in February.  New families will know their flexible tuition amount when they are accepted, or shortly thereafter.

St. Michael’s works to minimize additional costs beyond tuition, but these may include the extended school day program, laptop insurance fees, after school enrichment within our auxiliary program, learning support and/or tutoring, field trips and athletic equipment or gear. Families who are enrolled through Flexible Tuition at a certain level can access supplemental resources to support additional costs beyond tuition. 

Families are asked to reapply for a Flexible Tuition each school year, and your tuition will be comparable barring any significant changes in your family's financial situation. St. Michael’s tuition increases between 3%-6% yearly, and families should plan for annual increases in their tuition based on their financial circumstances.

The online Flexible Tuition application provides opportunities for parents and guardians to include notes and elaborate on special circumstances. Applying for Flexible Tuition is an individualized process. For both new and returning families, it is a partnership that we take seriously and our Enrollment Director maintains open lines of communication throughout a family’s St. Michael’s journey.

• One Payment: 100% of net tuition to be paid by August 1st
• Two Payment Plan: 60% in August, 40% in November
• 10-month payment plan: July 15th - April 15th

Admission and Flexible Tuition decisions are made independently from one another. The Admissions Committee makes its decisions without regard to financial matters.

We recognize that families have the freedom to make choices regarding which parents work outside of the home. In the case where an applicant has two parents, and the family chooses for only one parent to work outside of the home, and the other parent is otherwise able to work, the Flexible Tuition Committee will impute an income per school policy. An exception to this policy might occur if the parent at home is caring for a preschool-aged child, a child with special needs, a seriously ill child, a parent or grandparent, or if there are other special circumstances. A family should explain these possible circumstances at the end of the Flexible Tuition application.
