Robin Hood

March, 2023

The St. Michael’s Theatre Ensemble proudly presents Larry Blamire’s “Robin Hood“, directed by Christina Johnston and designed by Ellyn Eaves-Hileman. The cast of fifth through eighth grade actors transports the audience back in time to Medieval England, and brings to life the exploits of the outlaw folk hero and his band of Merry Men as they seek justice for the residents of Sherwood Forest, complete with exciting fight scenes, a lot of drama and even a little romance. Enjoy!

How the Grinch Stole Christmas!

Based on the book by Dr. Seuss, this holiday classic was brought to life by a cast of sixth through eighth grade students in the Acting Workshop Class with tech support by the Stagecraft class. Directed by Christina Johnston, scenic design by Ellyn Eaves-Hileman.

The Arabian Nights

March, 2022

Adapted from “The Tale of a Thousand Nights and a Night,” this is the story of Scheherazade, who saves her own life by telling the King a wondrous tale each evening and continuing through until dawn – when she is supposed to be killed, except that the King always allows her to live in order to finish the next story. She suspends her death sentence for one thousand and one nights, and slowly heals the King’s broken heart in the process. It’s a wonderful example of the power of storytelling, as these re-imaginings of ancient folktales transform hatred into love.

The beloved cinematic masterpiece comes to life this year as a delightful student film filled with the spirit of the Christmas season. A bumbling wayward angel named Clarence Odbody is selected as the heavenly choice to help George Bailey, a man of unrealized dreams, discover the treasures of family, friends and life itself.

The Acting Workshop and Stagecraft classes are proud to present their adaptation of this holiday classic, directed by Christina Johnston and designed by Ellyn Eaves-Hileman.

The Day The Internet Died

April 2021

On a sunny day in the town of Bloomington, a devastating occurrence happens. No, it’s not famine, or floods, or loss of your basic rights. The internet has gone down! And it will continue to be down! For a week! A whole week! Pandemonium! In a world that is so dependent on the internet for shopping, mailing, and posting pictures of cute babies, how will society function? Not well as it turns out. The Day the Internet Died hilariously explores how inept we are at socializing, research, and basic human interactions when we don’t have a screen to look at.
