Visual Arts

All students at St. Michael’s take a visual arts course, beginning in Preschool and continuing through 8th grade.

In 5th-8th grade, all students take a general art class and a general music class; they also participate in the Arts Program, which provides each student with two arts electives per year that meet twice a week. For visual arts, the offering is a focused Studio Art course.

Studio Art – Students work collaboratively on projects using a variety of media. They also explore non-traditional forms of art when they participate in community art installations, such as the annual fall beach build. Students develop design blueprints in class, and one is voted on and selected for the build. The class gathers tools and walks down to Easton’s beach to bring their artistic vision to life in a spectacular beach installation, in which they design and mold the sand and use found materials along the beach such as shells, sticks, and rocks, resulting in a piece for the community to enjoy.
