Extended School Day
Beyond the School Day
At the end of each school day, from 3-5:30pm, there is an optional Extended School Day that is included in students’ tuition.
During this time, St. Michael’s provides ample freeplay time to help students unwind from the school day. Early Childhood and Lower School students will frequently spend much of the time playing outside – even in the winter, so be sure to pack snowsuits! A typical afternoon may include freeplay time outside, followed by indoor structured centers (beading, Play-Doh, LEGOs, etc.). Students may have the opportunity to choose from activities like watching a movie or playing dodgeball in the gym.
Middle School students attend a study hall where they receive support while completing homework. Once done, they too get to join in the fun and get outside.
Enrichment Classes, which are fee-based offerings available to all students (not just those participating in the Extended School Day), run throughout the school year.
Vendors from the wider community come to St. Michael’s to teach classes on a wide variety of topics, such as martial arts, chess, hands-on science experiments, cooking, painting, and the arts.
Enrichment classes are typically held from 3:15-4:15pm and last for 4-6 weeks. We typically offer 20-30 different Enrichment Classes each school year, which gives students a diverse array of choices.
