Literacy

Beginning in kindergarten, we use Fundations® as our literacy program.

Rooted in the Science of Reading, Fundations® is a foundational phonics program that teaches letter formation simultaneously with letter names and sounds. It is a spiraling curriculum, so students review and practice past concepts as they continue to move forward and learn new ones. Instruction and practice occur in a systematic, cumulative, multimodal, and explicit manner that maximizes classroom time and allows students to experience greater gains in the skills required for independent reading. With Fundations®, students are explicitly taught the rules of English and given the tools to apply these rules to everything they read and write.  Ultimately, this program sets a highly stable foundation for literacy success.
